CHILL: Empowering a Team to Practice What They Preach

Community Member Feature: Dr. Rose

Dr. JB Rose is a licensed clinical psychologist and Founder of Mindful Path Behavioral Health & Wellness, Inc. She began her CHILL journey in Winter 2020 by taking her team to an in-person retreat.

Soon after, the pandemic began and we launched the CHILL Anywhere app. With the retreat leaving a lasting impact, Dr. Rose provided her team at Mindful Path with a year-long subscription to the app. Team members received 24/7 access to live streamed and on-demand meditation and mindfulness sessions.

As they work to support their clients’ mental health, Dr. Rose believes it’s essential to provide the Mindful Path team with resources to support their own wellbeing. And CHILL Anywhere provides the support they seek.

Dr. Rose shared her thoughts on the retreat and using the CHILL Anywhere app to support herself, team and clients.

How did you hear about CHILL and the retreat?

I heard about CHILL from being in the yoga and meditation community in Chicago. I heard about the retreat from following you on social media. The fact that you were holding it at the Writers Theatre, such a unique space, was a bonus. It was the merging of two amazing organizations into one amazing concept - how could I not take an opportunity to CHILL?

How would you describe the in-person retreat?

It was simply perfection. The venue was the perfect mesh of intimate and expansive and the CHILL ambience was beautiful. The space was set to nurture the soul from the moment we entered. Darrell's voice was so soothing and the pacing of the instruction was so nice. He was so welcoming and accessible for conversations. The whole vibe was just incredibly nurturing and lovely.

What about the retreat impacted you and your team most?

You can tell that a lot of thought and planning went into this event from start to finish and that helped to create a safe and peaceful environment for participants to CHILL. My team and I enjoy attending workshops, retreats, and other unique settings to both connect with each other and with ourselves. We are big on practicing what we preach and self-care, mindfulness, rest, and restoration are major themes that we discuss with our clients and practice ourselves. It is not too often that you find retreats that are centered around rest and restoration. This is incredibly important to us as mental health providers as we aim to look for ways to reset our nervous systems on a daily basis and restore ourselves so we can be truly present with our clients.

What do you find separates CHILL Anywhere from other mindfulness apps?

The number one thing that separates CHILL Anywhere from other apps is that you are all trained in and embody the principles of mediation practice and it truly shows. Your embodiment comes across in your teaching styles and presence as teachers and guides. Being able to see you and connect with you (energy-wise) through the app is really important and makes the experience that much richer. Since I have had the in-person experience and now used the app for the past 2+ years, I can say that nothing is lost through the app practice. In fact, I find myself so incredibly grateful each day that I have been able to access your teachings between sessions with clients or at the end of a day. It is a huge gift in my life, and I am endlessly grateful. Since the pandemic began, you have been so committed to sharing your app for no cost to teachers, students, first responders, and others in need and that is incredibly admirable. CHILL Anywhere is truly a balm to the soul. As a local and small business owner myself, I truly value supporting other local and small businesses. I love being able to promote CHILL Anywhere to our Mindful Path community, colleagues, friends, and family. Thank you for all you do.
